The Florida-based fiber optic deployment company CableRunner North America, in conjunction with their parent company, Vienna’s Austria Water and Sewer (WKA), announced that they have awarded Egypt’s National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) exclusive rights to use CableRunner technology for installing fiber optic networks in the country.
If the two-year term proves to be a successful cooperation, exclusive rights for other Arab countries will also be negotiated. Under the agreement, NTC and WKA/CableRunner will work cooperatively to utilize CableRunner technology for installing in-sewer fiber optic networks within existing sewer infrastructures in Cairo and other cities throughout Egypt.
WKA/CableRunner will provide NTC with planning and staff training, delivery of all materials for self-installation, use of CableRunner robotic technology and technical support. WKA/CableRunner will also provide NTC with support for planning and constructing a pilot project and allow NTC to participate on further developments of CableRunner technology.
NTC was established in 1995 as a technology-based holding company active in the communication and Information Technology (IT) fields in Egypt and the Middle East. NTC's strategic plan is to establish subsidiaries in data and voice networks, software development, e-commerce services, and telecommunication and electronic manufacturing.
CableRunner North America LLC is owned in part by the City of Vienna, Austria Water and Sewer Department. CableRunner offers solutions for deploying in-sewer fiber optic cable in congested metropolitan areas. — (menareport.com)
