ALBAWABA – Starlink, the satellite internet constellation operated by Starlink Services, LLC, an international telecommunications provider that is a wholly owned subsidiary of American aerospace company SpaceX, will provide ultra-fast internet services for United Airlines flights, the major airline in the United States.

United Airlines is now preparing to offer its passengers ultra-fast internet service powered by Starlink by the spring of 2025.

Starlink, owned by Elon Musk, is expanding rapidly across various sectors. The company announced that it will begin testing the new internet service in February 2025, with plans to launch it on commercial flights later that spring.

It is worth noting that United Airlines plans to launch its first commercial flight with Starlink internet service on an Embraer E-175 aircraft. The airline intends to equip its first mainline aircraft with Starlink by the end of 2025. The airline aims to eventually offer Starlink internet service on all United flights.

Notably, members of United's loyalty program, MileagePlus, will have free and full access to Starlink internet services, including streaming, shopping, gaming, and more.

United Airlines is not the only airline planning to offer high-speed internet on its flights. In September 2024, Hawaiian Airlines announced it will offer Starlink internet free of charge to all passengers on Airbus-operated flights between the islands, the continental United States, Asia, and Oceania.

Internet services were first introduced onboard in 2003 when Boeing launched its 'Connection' service. However, the service was suspended in 2006 due to lower-than-expected demand.
