ALBAWABA – Starlink, the satellite internet constellation operated by Starlink Services, an international telecommunications provider that is a wholly owned subsidiary of American aerospace company SpaceX, providing coverage to over 100 countries and territories, announced the launch of direct mobile calling services in Ukraine today.

VEON Group, a multinational telecommunications and digital services company, announced the signing of an agreement with Starlink to provide direct satellite connectivity and mobile calling services in Ukraine.
Under this agreement, cellular devices can now connect to satellites equipped with modems that function like cell towers, transmitting phone signals directly from space to smartphones in Ukraine.

Kyivstar, the Ukrainian telecommunications company offering communication services and data transmission through a wide range of fixed and mobile technologies, stated that the service will be available in Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2025, with voice and data services following in later stages.
It is worth noting that earlier this year, Starlink launched its first constellation of satellites with direct cellphone capabilities, aimed at serving countries affected by conflicts and war zones, including Ukraine.
The company has also formed partnerships with local providers in various countries, including the United States, Japan, New Zealand, and others.
