Sudan and Egypt have signed a series of agreements, the central of which involves the implementation of a joint agricultural strategy that includes the introduction of new agricultural technologies and the revival of a jointly operated Egyptian-Sudanese company.
News of the accord was released on July 8 in a statement by the Egyptian-Sudanese High Committee, which had been meeting in Khartoum. Attending the talks were Sudanese First Vice-President Ali Uthman Muhammad Taha and Egyptian Prime Minister Atif Ubeid.
Quoted by AFP, Ubeid said it was in the interests of both countries to increase the crop production. Sudan, he added, possesses massive resources, and Egypt is capable of consuming that amount which is in the excess of what the Sudanese need. ― (MENA Report)
