Sun Microsystems Middle East and Africa announced more than 20 percent growth in shipments of its server technology over the last four quarters. Key industries across the region in which Sun increased its market share during the last twelve months include the oil and gas, government, service provider and telecommunications sectors.

Sun's regional operations reported that its enterprise storage and entry-level technologies represented the company's fastest-growing product offerings in the Middle East.

"Sun's major regional accomplishment over the last twelve months, in addition to maintaining our market share in the high-end space, has been to successfully deploy solutions for smaller and medium-sized businesses in the Gulf, Levant and North African countries," commented Denis Heraud, regional manager for Sun Microsystems, Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa (EMMA).

On a global basis, internet systems company Sun reported revenues of $12.5 billion, where the fourth fiscal quarter that ended June 30, 2002 showed an increase of 10 percent ($3.4 billion), as compared with $3.1 billion in revenues reported for the third quarter of fiscal year 2002. Sun can be found in more than 170 countries. — (menareport.com)
