Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM), the ISP business unit of Etisalat, has announced it has signed a strategic deal with Sun Microsystems to promote EIM Hosting Service. Under the agreement, Sun Microsystems will offer special discounts on hardware, software and professional services to provide a turnkey solution for the outsourcing needs of EIM hosting customers.

During GITEX, Sun will offer between 15 percent and 50 percent discounts on their products if those products are hosted with EIM Hosting Services, which provides companies and organizations co-location and telehousing. Following GITEX, discounts of between 10 percent and 20 percent will remain, based on the product category.

Both companies will work closely together to ensure all customer requirements are managed from the procurement of products and services through to integration and the full hosting services offered by EIM.

Co-location allows corporate customers to rent space at the eDC in the form of cabinets, secure cages or enclosures in which to install their own server, which is provided with electricity, and high-speed connectivity to the Global Internet. Telehousing customers can choose the same options, but will interconnect their equipment directly to disaster recovery centers or any other location they wish.

EIM is the Internet service provider arm of Etisalat and was launched in March 2000. EIM has consistently introduced innovative products including BusinessOne and Al-Shamil, the high speed ADSL Internet connections, online registrations, Pre-paid, ‘dial ‘n’ surf’ and Albahhar portal. Today the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has more than 945,000 users, placing the country in the top 20 most Internet wired countries in the world. — (menareport.com)
