The Syrian authorities have extended by six months the planned implementation of a decision to require that Lebanese vehicles traveling in Syria receive coverage from the state-owned National Insurance company.
According to the Lebanon-based Executive monthly, the Syrians had intended requiring Lebanese cars to be covered by Syrian policies, because of difficulties that had been experienced earlier in which Lebanese insurance companies were unable to settle with Syrian claimants.
The extension will enable Lebanon to sign on to the Orange Card car insurance program, which provides coverage to cars traveling through 10 countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Under the terms of the program, cars carrying the Orange Card will not require additional insurance coverage. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
