Syria and the UAE recently signed an agricultural agreement, for the exchange of palm trees, saplings and plants. Under the accord, agricultural expertise will also be shared between the two countries, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily. Syria’s Minister of Agriculture, Asaad Mustafa, stated that the agreement is considered extremely important for both countries.

The recent agreement is part of an increasing show of Syrian-Emirati cooperation, as the UAE pledged last month to support Syria’s economic reforms. The Gulf state also granted Syria nearly $248 million to finance development projects between 1998-1999. ― (MENA Report)
