Official sources anticipate the value of exchanges between Egypt and Iraq to reach three billion dollars by the end of 2002 compared with $1.7 billion in 2000, reported Al-Hayat . Egyptian exporters are expected to increase their sugar exports to Iraq from 150,000 tons last year to 250,000 tons in the current year, which is equivalent to 75 percent of Iraqi sugar imports. They are also expected to expand their edible oil exports to Iraq from 50,000 tons to 70,000 tons.
