The Spanish city of Baena, a major olive oil center conducted a festival in which Tunisia was accorded special honor November 14 for its economic growth and rich cultural tradition, especially in the field of olive oil production, according to Tunisian and Spanish press sources.

Tunisia is one of the world’s most prominent producers of olive oil, occupying second place after the European Union in terms of export volume. Tunisian olive oil in particular is considered to be of a very high quality and has significantly increased its export market in recent years, particularly in profitable areas including the USA, Canada and Japan.

Tunisia is keen on increasing its commercial contacts with the European Union especially because one of its main export areas, textiles, is facing increasing competition from markets with cheaper labor sources such as China and India. (albawaba.com)
