Turkey’s Ozaltin Construction company has won a tender to construct the long-delayed 61 million Jordanian dinars ($86 million) Wihdah dam, outbidding seven other international firms. The contract is expected to be finalized by March-end, according officials at the Jordan Valley Authority, reported Jordan Times.
Situated on the northern Yarmuk River, between Syria and the Kingdom, the dam will supply the drought-hit Kingdom with 80 million cubic meters (mcm) of water annually. The dam is scheduled to take 2.5 years to complete.
Established in 1965 as a general construction contracting firm, Ozaltin is today a diverse business group, involved in international construction, tourism and agribusiness ventures. — (menareport.com)
