Turkey exported $1.57 billion worth of merchandise to the United Kingdom in the first seven months of 2002, a $352 million increase compared to figures from the same period last year. Exports to the United States increased by $162 million, $114 million to and $96.8 million to Taiwan, reported the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
Turkey’s foreign trade deficit dropped 62.3 percent, from $1.8 billion to $691 million as of January 2002, reported the State Institute for Statistics (DIE). Turkey exported $2.4 billion worth of goods in January 2002 and imported $3.1 billion worth of merchandise during the same period. — (menareport.com)
