As part of Turkish-Syrian normalization moves, Syrian deputy prime minister for economic affairs, Khaled Raad, met Wednesday, March 28, in Damascus with the Turkish agriculture minister, Hosni Yossef Ghok Alp. The ministers held talks on means of boosting economic relations between the two countries.
An agriculture cooperation agreement was thereupon signed, the official SANA news agency reported, by Syrian Agriculture Minister Assad Mustafa and his Turkish counterpart Husnu Gokalp. The accord relates to enhancing agriculture produce and animal heath through bilateral cooperation.
The long-running tensions between the two neighbors began recently to show signs of easing, as Turkey was reportedly releasing more Euphrates river water to Syria. The two are also expected to connect their electricity grids shortly and cooperate on a regional pipeline project. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
