Morocco is planning to build 2.2 million new apartments by 2010 in an effort to overcome the country’s housing shortage. An official report estimates the project to cost 28.9 billion Moroccan dirhams, most of which will be provided by international financing associations and the King Hassan II Development Fund, reported Al-Hayat .
Morocco’s housing shortage was estimated at 700,000 residential units located in the suburbs of major cities. More than 639,000 Moroccan families are living in illegal housing. — (menareport.com)
