The Emirates Flour and Animal Feed Factory (EFAFF) has issued a tender for the marine transport of 60,000 tons of wheat from the US, Canada and Australia. The Abu Dhabi-based company will announce the winning bids in April, reported Gulf News .
The General Industry Corp (GIC), which owns the EFAFF mills, issues quarterly tenders to supply the factory's grain requirements. In the first quarter of the year 2002, GIC had opted for 65,000 tons of Indian and Australian wheat. Abu Dhabi imports some 220,000 tons of wheat annually.
Operating since 1978, EFAFF’s current production totals some 800 tons per day of wheat flour and 600 tons a day of animal feed, mostly directed towards local consumption. — (menareport.com)
