Australia’s Qantas Asia-Pacific Airways recently adopted the RAPID Cargo system, an accounting solution designed by Mercator, the Dubai-based IT (Information Technology) division of the Emirates Group. The implementation, in conjunction with a management reporting system developed by Qantas itself, is expected to enhance Qantas Freight's financial operations.
RAPID Cargo is an airline revenue accounting solution. Its freight billing and accounting facilities enable realization of cash and revenue due. Qantas is the latest airline to implement RAPID, joining Emirates, SriLankan, British Airways, Air New Zealand, Air Zimbabwe, Royal Air Maroc, Olympic, Grupo TACA, and Varig.
Mercator is the information technology division of the Emirates Group, based in Dubai. It provides IT services for the two major Emirates Group divisions—Emirates Airline and Middle East air travel service organization DNATA. Mercator’s products include financial, cargo, airport, reservations, CRM and MIS solutions.
Qantasnes’ 179 aircraft serve 138 cities in Australia, Asia, Pacific, Americas, Europe and southern Africa and carried some 22 million people last year, on some 760 domestic flights a day and some 550 international flights a week. — (menareport.com)
