The UAE-based gourmet food importer, Parmafoodstuff, has announced its latest financial results, which show an increase in turnover of 23 per cent year to date.

The food division of Parmafoodstuff, which registered a turnover of Dh 15 million last year, should increase again this year as the company expands, according to director Massimo Hakim.

Hakim said: “We anticipate a 30 per cent increase in turnover again this year as we embark on an expansion programme within the division.”

Established in the UAE in 1997, Parmafoodstuff has rapidly made a name for itself as the importer of luxury products to the GCC and other parts of the world with a leaning towards the finest Italian brands.

According to Hakim, the GCC has been quick to see the appeal of imported gourmet goods. “The hotel and restaurant industry, especially here in the UAE, is leading the way internationally, with a level that could stand its ground in any city in the world.

“Delivering quality to this industry is paramount as the UAE continues to make a name for itself on the gourmet scene.”

Hakim predicts Parmafoodstuff’s increased business will come after the company launches its own private label division and production division, set to be year end.

He said: “While we are the distributors for leading brands such as Danesi coffee and San Benedetto water, we see the next step of launching our own brand as critical for the long-term position of Parmafoodstuff in the regional market.” (menareport.com)
