UAE: High rents force Asian workers to look for other alternatives

High rents in the UAE are forcing some of the Gulf state's Asian workers to live in their cars. The Gulf News reported Monday that unmarried Asian men in Dubai were sleeping in their cars after finding they can not pay the rents.

 

The real estate boom in Dubai is pushing rents higher in the UAE by up to 50 per cent each year, with an average one-bedroom apartment in Dubai costing around 56,000 dirhams (BD5,764) per year, the paper added.
