UAE parliament passes anti-money laundering bill

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) parliament recently approved a law against money-laundering activities, reported Al-Hayat. The Governor of the Central Bank, Sultan Bin Nasser Al-Suweidy, said that Emirate authorities froze bank accounts belonging to 14 individuals and companies whose names are recorded on the American list of terror-related accounts. Individuals crossing the UAE border carrying more than 40,000 Emirati Dinars ($10,000) would now on be requested to disclose the money’s source of origin. — (menareport.com)
