The UAE satellite receiver market is presently growing at a rate of 20 percent per month. According to Gulf News, monthly imports of satellite receivers in the country have reached 15,000 units, and this figure continues to rise.
Satellite receivers are used to view the free-to-air (FTA) channels in the UAE such as Hotbird (which offers 180 channels) and Arabsat (with 70 channels). Demand for this product is fuelled by a shifting consumer base, which is moving from analog to digital.
Aneres Trading, a Middle East distributor of satellite receivers, recently introduced the Radix brand Epsilon 1 FTA, manufactured by South Korea's Dae Ryung Industries to the market. These products retail for 160 dirhams (Dh), equivalent to $43.50, for analog and between Dh560 to Dh750 for digital ranges. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
