A trade exhibition of the UAE which took place in Tripoli, Libya, was a reportedly a great success with local businessmen, attracting countless Libyan commercial representatives, businessmen and investors.
One of the main goals of the exhibit, which will close on Wednesday, was to assist members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry develop policies which would advance Emirate business in Libya.
The exhibition hosted various companies representing many sectors such as banking, health, automotive spare parts, plastics, minerals, electronics, foodstuffs, information technology, communications and others.
Director-General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Abdul Rahman Al Mutawi, stated that the Libyan market is still young, and has many opportunities to attract investment. The DCCI hopes to increase UAE business chances for industrial and commercial activities in Tripoli, according to <i>Gulf News</i>.
Plans are also underway to promote Libyan products in the UAE, reported Mutawi said.
From January to mid-November 2005, some 10,176 certificates of origin worth approximately Dh1.7 billion for 475 companies in Dubai were issued by the DCCI for goods exported to Libya.
