The United Nations agency for helping Iraq (UNAMI) is continuing its work, with the cooperation of Iraqi ministries, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in providing humanitarian aid and helping in the reconstruction, in accordance with the UN's resolution 1546.
Working under the umbrella of UNAMI are 23 agencies, funds and programs that are affiliated to the UN, in the coordination of the international aid for Iraq and of helping Iraqis in the reconstruction of their country. The work that is being done by these agencies includes not only reconstruction of infrastructure, but also the removal of landmines, providing relief aid, initiating anti-poverty programs, human development programs, and help in the organization of elections.
