Viisage Technology, a provider of advanced technology for identity verification solutions, will participate in a security project with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Interior that leverages Viisage facial recognition technology.
The project will enhance the integrity of the country's visa process, as well as the overall security efforts at Dubai International Airport. The pilot project is designed to provide the UAE with a framework for a full deployment some time next year. The system will provide the UAE with the ability to test facial recognition matching capabilities as well as study, design and plan future integration of the technology with various security systems and processes.
The Dubai Airport system will provide both duplicate identity fraud reduction and identity investigation capabilities, using the Viisage FaceEXPLORER and FaceFINDER solutions, respectively. The UAE will leverage FaceEXPLORER to regulate its visa process. The FaceEXPLORER database will support 100,000 images during the initial pilot phase with the ultimate goal of creating a repository of more than two million images.
Security at Dubai International Airport will be enhanced by identity investigation capabilities using the Viisage FaceFINDER solution and Viisage's BiometriCam Adapter, a biometric image processor specifically designed to embed Viisage facial recognition technology.
Viisage's identity verification solution will aid in the detection of potential threats to the security of the airport, such as the identification of known terrorists or wanted felons.
Captured images will be relayed to the Viisage FaceFINDER and then matched against appropriate "watch lists." Images determined to be a match against a watch list will be handled according to the Dubai International Airport's existing security processes, while those that are not matched will be automatically discarded from the system.
US-based Viisage Technology’s solutions help law enforcement, state and federal government agencies as well as commercial businesses verify identities in order to enhance security, reduce fraud and protect personal privacy. Through 1,625 US systems in almost 1,500 locations in 19 states, Viisage delivers more than 28 million digital-identification documents annually. — (menareport.com)
