The Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has been awarded as the United Arab Emirate (UAE)’s number one card issuer by Visa International. The award comes just as the bank concluded their recent Visa cardholder free flight promotion.
According to the latest quarterly figures for the period between September 2001 and June 2002, DIB has gained the number one position in overall Visa card numbers for the third time successively. DIB also leads in terms of Electron cards with over 150,000 cards in circulation.
DIB also achieved first position in terms of annual cardholder expenditure with an increase to total over $400 million. DIB has recently introduced a new promotion, which offers Visa cardholders the chance to win a total refund of a month’s spending up to 5,000 Emirati dirhams.
By using their Visa card for retail purchases, cardholders will be entered into two draws for the chance to win one of 10 free prizes in each draw.
Established on 1975, DIB is considered to be the first Islamic bank in the world that has implemented the principles of Islam in all its practices. It was founded with active assistance of the UAE Government, the Central Bank and people of the UAE. — (menareport.com)
