The total number of Visa transactions in Lebanon over the year ending June 2002 totaled 4.7 million, which represents an increase of 43 per cent from the previous year – the third highest growth pattern throughout the Middle East.
In addition, figures revealed a staggering 51 percent increase in card numbers since the same period last year, the highest growth in the region, and means that there are now over a quarter of a million cards in circulation throughout the country.
Visa-branded cards generate more than $2.3 trillion in annual volume and are accepted at more than 29 million physical locations around the world, including more than 800,000 automated teller machines (ATM).
