A senior Yemeni delegation, led by deputy minister of oil and mineral resources Abdulmalik Mohamed Alama, met this week with Ethiopian officials in Addis Ababa for discussions on bilateral cooperation in the mining sector, the Ethiopian news agency ENA reported.
A joint Yemeni-Ethiopian technical committee has been established to carry out previous protocol accords signed in the fields of gas, oil and mineral exploration. Under these agreements, the two countries committed to encouraging their private sectors to enter into joint investment schemes of mine development.
Yemen and Ethiopia established in April 1998 the High Ethio-Yemeni Ministerial Committee, which held two meetings so far, the first was in Sana'a in April 1999 and the second in Addis Ababa in January 2001. — (menareport.com)
