The Aden Fishing Port exported more than 491,779 kilograms of fish to the Italian coast last Saturday, reported Saba. The shipment is estimated to have cost 45.4 million Yemeni rials ($261,000). The seaport’s main refrigerator is currently storing 350 tons of fish, ready to be shipped to foreign markets.
Yemen’s agriculture sector contributes to 14 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) and is the sole source of income for over 70 percent of the 19 million population. In terms of export worth, the most valuable agricultural commodities are roasted coffee, fish, hides, cigarettes and grapes. — (menareport.com)
