ZTE Corporation, China's largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and wireless solutions provider, has widened its technology base in Algeria and North Africa with the winning of a GSM contract issued by Algerian mobile operator ATM Mobilis.
The contract covers the whole western region of Algeria, with a 1.2 million subscriber base. This is the latest success for ZTE in Algeria, following the Corporation's statement earlier this year that it is to provide a national CDMA network to cover 95% of the country.
ZTE has also announced that it is to open a manufacturing facility in the country to manufacture wireless fixed terminals and other equipment with local company INATEL. "We have seen through their CDMA work that ZTE has outstanding engineering operating ability, world-class after-sales service and a real commitment to the customer," said, ATM Mobilis President, Hachemi Belhamdi. "This performance, which stretched throughout the 43 provinces of Algeria, gave us great confidence in ZTE and we are sure they will help us enhance our core offering going forward."
Equipment for the new contract includes BSS, Antenna, Microwave and Power supply system. "Algeria is a key market for ZTE in this part of the world and it is particularly pleasing that past performance has been so important in winning this new prestigious order," said ZTE local manager Mr. Zou Ying.
