Dohaland celebrates Qatar’s National Day with local community

Dohaland is set to host and engage the Qatari community with a host of activities and events for Qatar's double celebrations of the National Day and the 2022 World Cup winning bid this coming Saturday 18th of December, 2010.
"December 18th is a day that defines the spirit and aspirations of this country as it continues to grow into one of the world's most advanced, prosperous and hospitable nations. As we support the realisation of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani's Qatar National Vision 2030, we will also honour the glorious triumphs of our forefathers who laid the groundwork for this great country. This year all Qataris will be especially joyous after the historical announcement of Qatar winning the World Cup bid on the 2nd of December," said Eng. Issa M. Al Mohannadi, CEO-Dohaland.
Dohaland, who strongly supported the 2022 World Cup bid, has also commissioned a special song for National Day, sung by popular Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi. The song entitled 'I am Qatari' will reflect the strong and proud traditions of Qatar, the ambitions and dreams of its people, and the joy of all Qataris during this wonderful era. It is posted on the Dohaland website www.dohaland.com, Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ad-Doha-Qatar/DOHALAND/103772956781 and will be available to TV and Radio stations for broadcast.
Dohaland has partnered with the Qatar National Day Committee to exhibit a rare collection of antique daggers and swords belonging to the founding father, and also screen documentaries charting the life and times of the founders of Qatar at the Knowledge Enrichment Centre. The floating presentation centre moored off Doha Corniche, will be at the heart of all the festivities in the city, and will be open to public on Saturday from 3 pm to 9 pm, and from 9:00am to 8:30pm from Monday to Thursday.
Children will be able to enjoy the celebrations as Dohaland holds a 6-day exhibition outside the Knowledge Enrichment Centre from 15 - 20 December. The exhibition will display a collection of works by children from over 58 schools who participated in the 'Paint the Doha of Our Dreams' campaign, Dohaland's first CSR campaign. The Paint the Doha of Our Dreams contest encouraged children across Qatar to unleash their imagination onto canvas and show what they would like Doha to look like in the future, with a prestigious jury from VCU-Q judging the submissions. The initiative formed part of the company's mission to enrich lives and inspire people to flourish and realise their full potential.
Dohaland has also organised activities for its employees as well as workers involved in the construction of its signature project Musheireb, the new Doha downtown generation project. The Musheireb construction site will also be adorned with Qatari flags positioned on cranes.
