du launches "Passport", a revolutionary offer that lets you talk for longer while travelling abroad

Staying connected across the GCC while travelling has been taken to a whole new level. du’s innovative new offer, ‘Passport’ – which is the first of its kind in the GCC – aims to further enhance the simplicity and the affordability of roaming outgoing call rates in order to ease their customers’ peace of mind when travelling outside the UAE. In other words, du is giving all their customers a chance to spend less while calling from abroad.
“du believes in ensuring all their customers are satisfied and happy by giving them a chance to enjoy more value and convenience in any way conceivable. This new ingenious ‘Passport’ plan will inevitably reinforce du’s status of being recognised as the best operator that offers remarkable roaming services that allows customers to enjoy incredible freedom and flexibility,” said Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer, du.
As part of the new plan, du customers can benefit from paying just 90fils per minute for all outgoing local calls; calls back to the UAE; and calls made to any other GCC number, while roaming in the GCC region – in addition to a small one-time connection fee of AED5 per call. This new offer, which is available to all du customers, can be activated for free by texting the word ‘passport’ to 9812. Customers will be able to subscribe to the brand new offer either before travelling or when reaching any GCC destination.
“In our on-going efforts to stay completely dedicated to offering high-end, reasonably priced, and straightforward roaming services du continues its stance in tending to the needs of its customers. Calling while travelling within the GCC is now more affordable and simpler than ever with customers enjoying a very attractive and unique rate of 90 fils,” Faraidooni added.
Aiming to simplify the roaming tariffs available in the region, du first launched its ‘One Region, One Rate’ offer in 2008, a revolutionary flat rate roaming tariff for incoming and local calls in the GCC, followed by the ‘One World, One Rate’ roaming tariff (2009) that offers users more value, simplicity and convenience from their du mobile service, while roaming across the world. With ‘One World, One Rate’, du customers roaming abroad pay a flat rate of just AED1.25 per minute for incoming calls across many international destinations. Furthermore, recognising the internet's increasing involvement in everyone's daily lives, du has further enhanced its international roaming offer in 2010 with ‘One World, One Rate’ for mobile internet with a flat AED1 per 50KB data rate applicable anytime, anywhere.
Now with ‘Passport’, du customers can choose an even further simplified and attractive offer for staying connected while travelling within the GCC.
