Two Bedouin men were killed and 18 others were injured in a family quarrel in the Bedouin town of Kuseife in southern Israel late Saturday evening, according to Israeli police.

The two men, aged 50 and 30, were killed after they were run over with a car in what police described as a clash between local families, and were reportedly members of the local al-Amur family, according to Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Israeli emergency services said they received a call at around 11 p.m, when ambulances rushed to the scene and evacuated 18 injured residents to Israel's Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba.

A Soroka hospital spokeswoman quoted by Israeli police added that among those taken to the hospital, two were seriously injured, while the others were reported as being in light to moderate condition.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri said in a statement that initial investigations indicated there was a fight between two local families, in which members of both families used their cars to run over people from opposing families.

Al-Samri added that Israeli police were continuing to work on restoring peace, and were carrying out arrests and investigating more details of the incident.

According to al-Samri, eight of the injured were still receiving treatment on Sunday, with one in serious condition.
