Fraudulent UAE doctor caught claiming to cure broken hearts with herbs

A 38-year-old Asian man who allegedly went around the city offering bogus herbal medicines for various ailments has been arrested with the help of Al Dhaid Municipality.

The fake herbal quack, who entered the country on a visit visa, claimed that he could cure arthritis, blindness, hair loss, impotency and even "broken hearts". He was caught in possession of a large quantity of unknown herbal medicines, some of which he sold to residents for expensive amounts. The herbals were unknown and not approved by the concerned authorities in Sharjah.

Salim Saeed Al Tunaiji, director of operations at Al Dhaid Municipality, said the municipality's inspection department received information about the man's activities and tracked his movements. He was caught offering treatment services to customers shopping at commercial outlets located on Al Dhaid-Fujaira road.

The team confiscated all the herbal items and referred him to concerned authorities for legal action.

Al Tunaiji said that Al Dhaid Municipality is concerned about public health, one of its top priorities. "We are making great efforts to ensure a healthy environment in the city by curbing all kinds of negative practices affecting public health and safety," he added

He added that these kind of illegal practices could cause deaths, as simple-minded believed such people who do anything to make some money during their stay in the country.

The intensified inspections being carried out targets illegal activities, businesses and banned professions which could impose a hazard to public health and environment.

He urged the public to get herbal medicines from licensed shops and clinics in the city and call 993 to report any kind of illegal activities.
