A 25-year-old woman, who allegedly tampered with a paid parking ticket, stood trial in a Dubai court.

The German woman has been accused in the Court of First Instance of forgery after she allegedly made a change to a paid parking ticket to avoid paying the parking fee.

The public prosecution referred her to court on charges of forgery and the use of forged document and recommended the infliction of the strictest possible penalty on her

The incident that took place on June 16, 2016, was reported to Al Qusais police station.

The defendant admitted during investigation she had got a paid parking ticket on May 16, 2016 and it was on June 16, 2016 that she used the same ticket by changing the month from 5 to 6 in order to avoid buying a new ticket.

"It was during my inspection of the cars parked in the paid parking areas in Al Nahda and Al Qusais that I spotted a car with a ticket on which the month had been changed by hand. The fare paid and the parking time also did not match," a 51-year-old Jordanian inspector with the Roads and Transport Authority told the prosecutor.

"It seemed obvious that the ticket was issued on May 16 but the car owner changed the date on the ticket to June 16 and left it on the front of her car to make it look like that she had paid the due fee. I reported the matter to my superior and then to the police", he added.
