Temperatures have plummeted and snow blankets the streets of Istanbul - which is bad news for the city's large population of homeless cats and dogs, according to the website One Green Planet.

But luckily the Atrium Mall in Istanbul's Bakirkoy neighborhood decided to open its doors so that stray dogs could come in and get a warm night's sleep, safe from the harsh elements.

One volunteer who gathered blankets and food for the dogs told CNN Turk, “All of us, if we can help as much as we can, all the stray animals will be in good shape and the street animals need help all over the world.”

The volunteers even made sure the pups had their dinner, so no one went to bed on an empty stomach.
