Al-Mowaten reports that the Municipality of Jeddah is pursuing criminal proceedings against doctor who assaulted his nurse after she prevented him from washing his shoes with sanitary medical towels.
According to reports, a Saudi nurse stopped a doctor from washing his shoes with specially sanitized towels that were reserved for cleaning newborn babies. When she got in his way, the doctor flew into a rage and grabbed her.
The doctor ripped off the nurse's hijab, grabbed her hair, and dragged her across the floor while shouting, "I'll wipe the floor with you!"
The charges against the doctor are twofold: first, he was neglecting his duties while on shift. Second, he not only assaulted the woman verbally and physically, but also forcibly removed her hijab.
Twitter users in Jeddah are outraged and calling for serious punishment for the doctor. A court date has not been set.
