Jordan’s King Abdullah left today on a diplomatic trip to China after an invite from its new President Xi Jinping. The King will meet with the President and other high-ranking officials. According to Royal Court statement, the agenda will include plans for cooperation and sharing of the latest developments in each region.

After his visit in China, the King will continue on to the Big Apple, New York City.  There, he will lead the Jordanian delegation attending the 68th UN General Assembly meeting.  Highlights on the UN meeting agenda include an expected speech on Jordan’s outlook on regional developments, specifically the Syrian crisis and the Hashemite Kingdom’s plans for continues efforts to bring peace between Israel and Palestine.

It is expected that the King will also connect with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who recently made a statement about Assad’s accountability in the deaths of thousands of innocent people throughout the Syrian crisis.

In his absence, the King has sworn in his younger brother, Prince Feisal as Regent.
