The girl had been standing in the rain outside a public library.
A man in Saudi Arabia foiled a motorist's bid to kidnap a 15-year-old female student in Abha, according to local media reports.
Talal Saad Al Shahrani had spotted a black Camry pulling over near a schoolgirl who was standing alone at a public library. It was raining but the student was apparently waiting for her family to pick her up.
"I felt that something was wrong," Al-Shahrani recalled. He continued to monitor the situation as the man in the vehicle prodded and convinced the girl to come with him.
When the Camry moved, Al Shahrani followed it closely. He saw the vehicle take a detour towards Dhila Road linking Abha and Jazran. Suspecting the movement of the car, Al Shahrani took a short video clip filming the abductor in the vehicle, and saw the girl yelling for help through the window.
Without wasting time, he called the police who apprehended the vehicle and forced it to stop. They rescued the girl. The kidnapper tried to flee but the cops, assisted by Al Shahrani, pinned him down and arrested him.
For his heroic efforts, Al Shahrani was honoured by Saleh Al Qarazi, Abha Police Director Major General, for helping security forces in rescuing the girl.
