Japanese hostage Kenji Goto's mother, Junko Ishido, begged the Japanese and Jordanian governments to work together to release her son from Daesh following an ultimatum from the terrorist organization, writes the Associated Press.
Yesterday Daesh gave the Jordanian government 24 hours to release Iraqi prisoner Sajida al-Rashawi from prison in exchange for Kenji Goto. The terrorists also said the life of Jordanian fighter pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh will be spared if al-Rashawi is released; however, he will remain in Daesh custody.
"Please save Kenji's life," Ishido said, "Kenji has only a little time left."
"This was an extremely despicable act and we feel strong indignation. We strongly condemn that," Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said. "While this is a tough situation, we remain unchanged in our stance of seeking help from the Jordanian government in securing the early release of Mr. Goto."
The deadline for the prisoner exchange given by Daesh expires in approximately six hours.
