The honour was bestowed on Shaikha Fatima, who is known as the Mother of the UAE, by the Arab Producers Union and the Arab Women’s Campaign, which are arms of the Arab League.
Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, said Shaikha Fatima is an inspiring leader with a remarkable record of achievements in education, health, women’s empowerment and charitable initiatives not only in the Arab world but also across the world.
Shaikh Nahyan added that Shaikha Fatima held a privileged position in the UAE as a determined advocate for initiatives that strengthen the country and allow its sons and daughters to fulfil their roles and aspirations at various levels.
Shaikh Nahyan said the Ministry of Culture will mark the occasion by organising a grand ceremony titled ‘Mother of the UAE, you are the source of pride and glory for Arabs’ at the Emirates Palace Hotel on April 28.
Shaikh Nahyan said Shaikha Fatima is a prime example and a role model for Emirati and Arab women for inspiring change in their societies. “She works tirelessly to enlighten women, to empower them through education and training and to provide the opportunity for them to demonstrate their capabilities. She is an exceptional pioneering woman with pioneering initiatives that enabled women in different fields.
