Philippine coast guard was searching Monday for 17 crew members of a landing craft that went off course south of the capital, Manila.
This marks one of three weekend accidents at sea, an agency spokesman said.
Having more than 7,000 islands, sea accidents are frequent in the Philippines, according to Reuters.
“Seventeen crew are missing and we are still looking for them,” said the spokesman, Captain Armand Balilo.
The craft lost power near Fortune Island, a tourist spot in Batangas province, Balilo added.
In another incident on Sunday, authorities rescued 14 boat passengers on the holiday island of Palawan and 19 people from a boat in the southeastern province of Camarines Norte, after both crafts capsized in strong waves, the coast guard said.
Reuters reported that most of them were tourists.
