When it comes to being sexually adventurous, it would seem New South Wales is the state which likes to experiment the most.

According to a report by North Shore Mums, the state accounted for nearly a third of all sales of sex toys.

While NSW may dominate in terms of overall figures, Queensland, which accounted for 22 per cent of sales, was rated top in terms of per capita sales due to its slightly smaller population.

As well as unveiling which states were buying sex toys in their droves, the report also unveiled which suburbs were the sauciest, and the results may surprise you.

Although NSW was the top sex toy buying state, statistics showed those in the Sydney metropolitan region were the biggest buyers of adult-themed fun.

The data showed of the 63 per cent (128,541 products) of all the toys purchased in New South Wales, a staggering 22 per cent of these were bought by those on the North Shore.

A further crunch of the numbers revealed which areas within in region ranked as top buyers of adult fun, and the swish suburb of Mosman came out on top, accounting for almost 10 per cent of sales.

The data, based on a population to purchasing ratio, showed Lane Cove was second to Mosman, with 5.8 per cent.

North Sydney, Willoughby and Ryde were third, fourth and fifth respectively, with Ku-ring-gai, Hornsby and Northern Beaches taking out sixth, seventh and eighth spots.

The data also shared just which type of products those on the North Shore were splashing their cash on.

Statistics from the survey showed women's pleasure products, such as vibrators, accounted for nearly a third of all sales in the greater North Shore region.

Men's sex toys were also revealed as top sellers with 20 per cent of sales figures attributed to these items.

Following in the ranks were lubricants at 17 per cent, couple's sex toys and bondage and fetish items.

As well as enjoying a more liberal attitude toward using sex toys, it would seem those on the North Shore like to revel in salacious sexual trysts and raunchy encounters.

The North Shore Mums participated in an annual survey around sex and the racy escapades they get up to behind closed doors.

'When my husband and I first got together we both lived at home with our parents so finding a place to have sex was pretty much impossible,' one woman wrote.

'So we used to go to a cafe that had a secluded disabled toilet adjacent to it and get it on.'

Another shared: 'I'm having an affair. The sex is much better, more fun and kinkier with him. I'm much more confident in the bedroom with my lover than I am with my husband.'
