Pictures of Tunisia’s deposed President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali have surfaced on the internet on Tuesday for the first time since he fled his country on Jan. 14, 2011.

The pictures were believed to be posted by his son Mohammad Ben Ali on his Instagram account, which was switched to private shortly after the pictures were circulated.

Ben Ali was granted Asylum in Saudi Arabia and is required not to speak to the media or be involved in politics.

He has largely complied with the requirement and made only a few statements delivered through his lawyers.

Rumors had surfaced that he was suffering from health problems and is a coma, but the pictures show the former Tunisian president in good health.

He appeared in the photos sitting at home with his youngest son Mohammed.
