Emiratis holding an ordinary passport could travel to Brazil and Russia without a pre-entry visa, but that could end soon.

According to a new update, Emiratis can avail of the visa exemption policy to Russia and Brazil only up till August.

In a tweet on the social media page Forsan_UAE, Ahmed Said Alham Al Dhaheri, Assistant Undersecretary of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, had revealed the details during a meeting at Majlis Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

He added that plans for further visa exemptions to other countries are currently underway.

"We seek to make the UAE passport reach the top 5 ranking."

Providing its citizens with visa-free access to 140 destinations worldwide, UAE passport now sits in 27th place on the index after gaining entry to China and Ireland earlier this year.
