Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, announced today the launch of a new partnership agreement with Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), to provide a convenient solution for tuition fee payments.

This convenient payment option will be available to students through any of Emirates NBD’s 131 Cash Deposits Machines (CDMs) nationwide. Emirates NBD account holders can additionally make payments online via BankNet, the bank’s state-of-the-art internet banking portal.

Under the patronage and presidency of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the HBMeU is the first e-Learning institution to be licensed and recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates, and among a few in the region.

“Today’s agreement is part of our drive to partner with key national institutions and government bodies to provide easy payment solutions for a wide range of services,” said Abdulelah AlKindy, General Manager Retail Banking, Emirates NBD. “It is also in line with Emirates NBD’s commitment to supporting further education in the UAE. We identified a need for an easier payment option for the university’s distance-learning students. This new service replaces the need for students to have to visit the campus administration office in person, during specific times and on certain days of the week. Now students can save valuable time by making tuition fee payments at their own convenience, 24 hours a day.”

Dr. Ibrahim Mahmood Bin Abdulrahman, Vice Chancellor HBMeU, commented: “Our mission is to provide a first-class educational experience for our students through our advanced e-learning programmes and comprehensive learner-support services. Through leveraging technology, this simple payment option from Emirates NBD will ease life for e-learners and save valuable studying time. We believe this partnership with one of the country’s most popular banks will be well received by students.”

Including today’s announcement, the bank’s payment partners have increased to a total of 31, which makes Emirates NBD the UAE leader in providing convenient payment solutions for the widest range of essential banking services. Other payment partners include Etisalat, Du, SALIK, DEWA, RTA, Emaar Properties and others.

With the largest network of ATMs and CDMs in the country and one of the region’s most advanced online financial services portals, Emirates NBD continues to provide easy access to a broad range of payment solutions.

Background Information

Emirates NBD

Emirates NBD, the leading banking group in the region, was formed on 19 June 1963, when H.H. Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum signed the Charter of Incorporation of the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) which became the first National Bank established in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With the blessings of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on 06 March 2007, to form Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the region by assets. On 16 October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). The merger between EBI and NBD to create Emirates NBD, became a regional consolidation blueprint for the banking and finance sector as it combined the second and fourth largest banks in the UAE to form a banking champion capable of delivering enhanced value across corporate, retail, private, Islamic and investment banking throughout the region.
