Director Mahmoud Bakri has completed the montage of his social and historical series Asfour Taht Al Matar (Bird Under the Rain). He is waiting for the poet Abdel Rahman Al Abnoudi to finish writing the musical introduction and conclusion to the script, which will be composed by Hasan Abul Suoud and sung by Mohammed Al Hilo.

The series is about the last days of Egypt’s King Farouq, the 1952 coup and the expulsion of British forces from the Arab African state. It also depicts socialism, nationalization, the 1967 crisis, Nasser’s death and Sadat’s time as a president until 1973 war with Israel.

Egyptian actor Ahmed Abdel Aziz plays the role of Jaber, a sophisticated person symbolized by the bird, which flies in the rain. The character is a student at the Law College who likes literature, but who cannot complete his studies due to financial hardship.

As if that weren’t enough, the student unjustly receives a 20-year jail term.

Ahmed Maher plays the role of an ordinary worker who likes his homeland and does not change despite the difficult conditions he faces. Taysir Fahmi plays the character of Kawthar, the daughter of a poor employee who also likes his homeland, despite unfair treatment by his company. Fahmi falls in love with Jaber, and the rest, as they say, is history - Albawaba.com
