After three years of absence from Cairo, Moroccan singer Abdoh Sharif was back to the Egyptian Opera House at which he sang a number of Abdel Halim Hafez’s songs, according to the daily al Gomhuria.

Sharif who is known for performing the late Egyptian singer’s songs at concerts at the Opera House in Cairo, sang Sunday for his Egyptian fans who haven’t forgot the young artist’s warm feelings and high performance of Hafez’s songs.

Sharif told the press that he can’t classify the audience whether they are his fans of Hafez’s, as Abdel Halim Hafez is not only a name but has also become symbol of all singers. “Actually, I am trying to create my own style,” the Moroccan singer added.

He also talked about his debut in cinema through the forthcoming musical movie Zaman al Hobb al Gamil (Beautiful Love Time) by Hussein Kamal, the director of the film Abi Fawq al Shagara (My Father Is Over the Tree) starring late singer Abdel Halim Havez.

Costarring in the film, along with Sharif, is Egyptian actress Yusra. The scenario was written by Usama Ghazi who scripted the successful TV series Opera Aida.

Zaman al Hobb al Gamil tells the story of a man (played by Sharif) who is still living under the spell of Abdel Halim’s songs. He meets a lady (played by Yusra) who wishes to live in Abdel Halim’s time.

The film contains songs with Abdel Halim’s voice, and others with Sharif’s. It also includes new songs composed by Riyad al Hamshari – Albawaba.com
