As a humanitarian and the UN World Food Programme (WFP) Ambassador Against Hunger, Tunisian actress Hend Sabry cares a tremendous amount about charity work and her fellow human beings.
In the spirit of this holy month, Hend attended a Ramadan Iftar at a Syrian refugee family's home in Jordan on Thursday. The family personally invited the actress over to dinner, and she was more than happy to comply, reported Emarat Al Youm.
Hend told her Twitter followers, "I had Iftar with Abu Anas and Um Anas in Amman. This is their third Ramadan away from their home in Syria."
The charitable starlet reminded people of the importance of helping the WFP during Ramadan, noting that they're going through a serious financial crisis. This Iftar was crucial to shed the spotlight on the problems still being faced by Syrian refugees.
"The Syrian crisis is almost unreported in the news these days, but there are millions of Syrians who have fled their homes and this is their fifth Ramadan away from home," Hend wrote.
Meanwhile, Abu Anas expressed his utmost joy at Hend's visit to his family home.
"I'm over the moon. I'm so happy that Hend Sabry has visited us, because it made us feel that there are still people out there who think about us and our suffering. Things are getting worse for us as each day goes by," Abu Anas said, adding, "She's a great human being before she is an artist."
