Egyptian comedian and actor Adel Imam suggested that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein should give up his presidency and get a career in acting instead. In an exclusive interview with a Kuwaiti daily, the comedian said that Saddam would 'surely' make a successful actor with his appearances in today's movies and anticipates Hollywood would chase after him eager to cast him.
According to the Kuwaiti based daily, Al Qabas, Adel, who is also a UN Goodwill Ambassador, also spoke against the severe consequences of a war on Iraq and its people. The actor added that America should not use its powers to destroy, but rather it should build and educate since it’s Iraq country that is rich in culture and knowledge.
On a different note, Adel has decided to postpone his upcoming film, which he was supposed to have started shooting early next month, due to last minute changes in the script.
Adel did not feel the script was satisfactory and asked for a number of alterations, in turn forcing the writers to redo their work once more. In the film Adel plays the role of a Minister who attempts to deal with the younger generation by help them solve many problems they face in society, reported the UAE based daily, Al Bayan.
Imam has put forward Nicole Sabaa, former singer in the Lebanese band The Four Cats, for the leading role in his upcoming film. Scriptwriter Yousif Ma’ati said that the new film will rediscover the ability and talent of the actor that has been neglected for some time. The new comedy will move Adel away from the action-theme he has been acting in recently.
The new film is a satirical comedy which revolves around a government minister and a father (played by Adel) of four adolescents, who attempts to raise his children in the right manner making them responsible young men. Throughout the course of events in the film, Adel’s sons try every way possible to take advantage of their father’s political status using it to get away with a number of mischief's.
The film directed by young director Ali Idris, will costar Egyptian actors Ahmad Ratib, Foad Khalil, Khaled Sarhan, and Tamer Abdul Mun’em. In the film, Adel decided to nominate Ali to direct his film instead of his son director Rami Imam, who directed his last film “Amir Al Thalam” (Prince of Darkness), in an attempt to showcase the talent of young Egyptian directors and thereby giving them a venue to prove themselves. –Albawaba.com
