Lebanese singer Alissa attended the graduation ceremony for Aust University in Lebanon as a gust of honor.

The university invited Alissa to honor her as the best Arab singer for the 2004/2005 year, in which her latest album “Ahla Dunia” (The Perfect World) witnessed the highest record sales.

Alissa gave a speech for the graduating students urging them not to immigrate to the west, and to remain in Lebanon despite the difficult conditions.

The singer stated that she hopes politicians will devote more attention to problems faced by the younger generations and offer more employment opportunities; otherwise they will look abroad for a chance to build a better future.

The singer, who was overwhelmed by the award, spoke in a somber tone as she saw signs of what she described as “depression” in most of the students. She views this as a direct result of the current political situation in Lebanon.

Alissa revealed the she will begin recording new songs for her upcoming album, beginning in Egypt.

The singer is scheduled to meet with a number of young Egyptian composers, stating that she intends on strengthening her ties with Egyptian people through her music.

Alissa will hold a live concert at the Cairo Opera House at the end of the month, to be broadcast by Infinity television and Egypt’s local television network. Alissa is also scheduled to hold a charity concert in Kuwait, from which the proceeds will go directly to the San Jude Foundation.
