Lebanese singer Alissa performed at the opening ceremony of the new ‘City Mall’ shopping center in the heart of Beirut. In the presence of VIPs, Lebanese businesspersons, journalists, and crowds of fans the singer sang a collection of her most popular hits.

Alissa recently gave a spectacular performance at the Cairo Opera house in an event organized by the Arab satellite channel Infinity, and under the patronage of Egypt’s first lady Suzan Mubarak.

Tickets were sold out well in advance, and VIP figures and artists from Egypt were in attendance. All proceeds from the remarkably successful event went directly to the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo.

In an interview with Infinity TV, who broadcast the event live, Alissa stated that she was “honored to sing for such a worthy cause” and was overwhelmed by the success of her performance.

Alissa recently attended the graduation ceremony for a Lebanese University, after receiving a special invitation. The university wanted to honor her as the best Arab singer for the 2004/2005 year, in which her latest album “Ahla Dunia” (The Perfect World) witnessed the highest record sales.

Alissa gave a speech for the graduating students urging them not to immigrate to the west, and to remain in Lebanon despite the difficult conditions.

The singer stated that she hopes politicians will devote more attention to problems faced by the younger generations and offer more employment opportunities; otherwise they will look abroad for a chance to build a better future.
